The Archbishop of Athens, Mr. Ieronymos, met today, Tuesday, June 18, 2024, with the Patriarch of Jerusalem, Mr. Theophilos
The Patriarch of Jerusalem Mr. Theophilos and the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece Mr. Ieronymos during the meeting they had this morning, Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the Holy Archdiocese of Athens.
The Archbishop welcomed the Patriarch and was interested to know about the situation and the problems that exist in the area, as well as how help could be sent with basic necessities.
The Patriarch expressed his gratitude to the Church of Greece and the Archbishop and informed him about the issues they are facing and the efforts being made. He also spoke about the Christian presence in the wider region of the Middle East, which maintains balance, but also about the Monastery of Agios Porphyrios and the support it provides to the faithful.
Then the Archbishop expressed his concern for the civilian population, children and the elderly, who put them on the front line, but also for the prisoners and wanted to send a message to everyone to stop the war and start the discussions for the prevalence of of peace. For his part, the Patriarch agreed, stressing the need to stop the war, while he expressed optimism that everything will be fine.
The Patriarch was accompanied by the Exarch of the Holy Sepulcher in Athens, Archimandrite Raphael Grivas.
