The Court sentenced the 54-year-old to 4 years in prison and a fine of 300 euros
There was fear and terror for a neighborhood in the N. Ionia area of Volos, but also for the policemen who went to arrest a 54-year-old man, who was finally arrested by the special forces of the Police (OPKE). Yesterday he was sentenced in absentia to 4 years in prison without parole and the right to appeal and if he is found and caught he will go to prison.
The defendant, who did not appear in Court, has rich record for violence, gun use and drugs. On the eve of Christmas 2023 (December 22) at 2 a.m., he was in a rage at his home in the working-class apartment buildings in S. Ionia and holding a makeshift weapon that looked like a sickle, he shouted and threatened the neighbors, who called the Police. As the magnesianews website reports, the police went to the door of his apartment, knocked and when he opened it, they could not help him, because he was in a rage, shouting and “armed”.
Then police officers from the Crime Prevention and Suppression Team were called to the scene who entered the apartment and arrested him.
Witness who testified at the trial said that the defendant often creates commotions and they take place in his apartment drug dealing.
The Court sentenced the 54-year-old in prison for 4 years and a fine of 300 euros, without suspension, commutation and without the appeal having a suspensive effect, which means that if found he will be sent to prison.
