Anti erosion works which include the construction of 86 km of log fences and 35 log dams, through which the natural regeneration of forest areas in Rhodes is ensured, NOVA reported.

The handover and acceptance of the project took place in Rhodes on June 11, 2024.

Nova, a member of the United Group, the leading telecommunications and media provider in Southeast Europe, in the framework of the corporate responsibility program totaling 1 million euros for rehabilitation and reconstruction projects after the natural disasters of 2023, remains faithful to its commitment even after Dadia , handed over to the General Directorate of Forests and Forest Environment of the General Secretariat of Forests of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, the major restoration project of fire-affected areas in Rhodes, which was implemented under the supervision of the Directorate of Forests of the Dodecanese of the General Secretariat of Forests.

Evangelos Goudoufas, Head of the General Directorate of Forests and Forest Environment of the General Secretariat of Forests of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, said: “It is our great pleasure that today we are in Rhodes together with Nova, which has shown excellent reflexes in the effort to restore the burned areas. It is an area of ​​approximately 2.5 thousand acres that we are currently in the process of receiving the anti-corrosion works funded and implemented by Nova under the supervision of the Dodecanese Forestry Service. An excellent job has been done in trying to recover and restore the forest ecosystem and protect the surrounding settlements. The
first signs of natural regeneration are already visible, and the implementation of 86 km of log nets and 35 log dams, which held the soil in place, contributed decisively to this.”
