A coordination meeting was held at the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, under the minister, Vassilis Kikilia, with the object of planning the actions due to the fire risk map of the Civil Protection. According to the Map, tomorrow Attica will be at alert level (red – scale 5 – extreme risk) and in several areas of the country at level 4 (orange – very high risk).

For the first time so early in June we have “index 5” in Attica, i.e. red code, state of alarm, and “index 4″ in four other regions of the country. The entire state machinery will be on high alert. Attention everyone, even a spark can lead to havoc and destruction. We must all be alert, both the citizens and the state machine,” said Mr. Kikilias and added: “No negligence, no movement, no action that can lead to tragic consequences».

The meeting was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, co-competent ministers, regional governors of areas with fire risk category 5 and 4, representatives of the Fire Brigade, ELAS, GEETHA and EKAB as well as co-competent agencies.

Earlier, Mr. Kikilias in his post on “X” he referred to the fire that broke out in Varibombi pointing out that the Civil Protection forces “faced a fire that was spreading rapidly due to weather conditions and managed to contain it in less than 30 minutes».

The fire that broke out at noon in Varybompi awakened nightmarish memories. 11 vehicles, 45 firefighters, 3 aircraft and 3 helicopters were mobilized immediately. Civil Protection forces faced a fire that was spreading rapidly due to weather conditions and managed to contain it in less than 30 minutes“, the minister emphasizes in his post.

It is noted that an extreme risk of fire-state of alarm (risk category 5) is predicted tomorrow for the region of Attica (excluding Kythira) according to the Fire Risk Prediction Map. At the same time, a very high risk of fire (risk category 4) is predicted tomorrow for Kythira, the Peloponnese Region and the Regions of Western Greece (Ilia, Achaia), Central Greece (Fokida, Boeotia, Fthiotida, Evia including the island of Skyros) ) and North Aegean (Lesvos PE, Chios PE).

For this reason, as the Fire Department announced, their staff Fire Services of the Attica Regionremains on general alert in order to deal with the increased service demands, which have arisen due to the large number of fires as well as the extreme fire risk (risk category 5).

The Fire Services are put on partial alert in their area of responsibility where a very high risk of fire is expected (risk category 4)

At the same time, aerial surveillance patrols continue, as well as patrols by fire, police and military forces.

At the same time, for the above areas, the Plan of Civil Protection actions to deal with risks due to forest fires is being implemented, according to which, among other things, the implementation of the measure of the preventive ban on vehicle traffic and the stay of excursionists in national forests, forests and “vulnerable” areas.

At the same time, GPP has informed all the competent government agencies involved, as well as the regions and municipalities of the above regions, so that they are on increased alertness for taking measures within their competence.

In addition, the Fire Brigade appeals to the citizens:

1. Be especially careful and avoid actions in the open air that can cause a fire by negligence, such as
