Against the strong winds and the fury of the fire that burned mainly pine trees in the forest of Kontodespoti, the fire brigade managed to deal with it and very quickly.

Ground forces reinforced by volunteers, machinery and water carriers from municipalities and the Mainland Region helped limit the extent of the damage. Along with them were 2 aircraft that dropped at a critical time, but also 2 helicopters that were there from the first moment.

The fire broke out on the road between Psachnon-Kontodespoti, very close to the monastery of Gorgoepikou and headed west towards the church of Agia Irini. Strong winds helped it spread and burned part of the agroforestry area, mainly pine and olive trees. He also burned a warehouse with recyclable oils. In fact, an entire operation was set up to limit the fire only to the warehouse that was destroyed and did not spread to the wider area.

At this time the fronts of the fire have been contained and the forces remain and deal with any focus of rekindling that manifests.

In the fire that started yesterday in Mastrantoni, Achaia and spread to Ilia, 180 firefighters with 8 groups of pedestrian sections and 59 vehicles are still working, a number of volunteers with water vehicles as well as water trucks and project machinery of the Region. A total of 19 airdrops were launched from the air yesterday and 14 today.

In Andros, the firefighters are dealing with scattered fires, while strong winds are blowing. They operate 39 firefighters, 10 vehicles, 1 hiking team, 2 aircraft, 5 helicopters and volunteers with 7 vehicles.
