How authorities busted the ‘Boom’ drug ring
He was dismantled by the Agia Varvara Security Department of the Attica Security Directorate, a criminal group whose members were trafficking synthetic cannabinoids “BOOM” in a hotel room in Chaidari.
As part of a police operation, 3 men aged 21, 41 and 44 and a 50-year-old woman, members of the organization, were arrested on Wednesday morning (26/6) in Haidari and a case was filed against them for violating the legislation on addictive substances, on weapons and about personal data and acceptance and disposal of products.
According to ELAS, from the preliminary investigation it emerged that the defendants had rented a hotel room, where they stored and trafficked the narcotics.
As for the roles of the members of the criminal group, the 50-year-old was in charge of supplying and transporting the drugs to the hotel room, while the other three lived there and were responsible for their storage and distribution.
In order to make it difficult to locate them, they had taken counter-surveillance measures, having installed a closed-circuit recording of images around the perimeter of the facility.
As part of the operation, a 44-year-old man was also arrested, who was spotted by the police when he left the hotel in question and, in their sight, threw down a package containing narcotics that he had obtained earlier.
After a search in their possession and inside the room, they found and seized:
• 36.3 grams synthetic cannabinoids “boom”,
• 5 liters of liquid ammonia,
• 29.5 grams. of plant extracts of raw material (damiana),
• 5 scales,
• laboratory equipment for the preparation of drugs,
• 2 cartridges,
• the sum of 78.5 euros,
• 3 cameras,
• 5 mobile phones and tablets,
• electric skate,
• geolocation device.
The arrested were taken to the competent Prosecutor.
