A 50-year-old foreigner was arrested yesterday (July 1, 2024) in the morning in the area of ​​Thermaikos municipality in Thessaloniki, by police officers of the Public Security Group of the Poligyros Security Department, as he had a pending arrest warrant issued against him by the Halkidiki Investigator for the crimes of the criminal organization, grand theft and theft.

The 50-year-old, a citizen of North Macedonia, according to voria.gr, showed the police a fake identity card and a fake driver’s license. It is noted that, at the time of the arrest, he pushed the police in order to avoid arrest.

In a search of his home, various burglary tools (screwdrivers, glass cutters, etc.), the sum of 1,120 euros, 1 mobile phone and 1 laptop computer were found and confiscated. Also, against him was pending a Will of the Council of Misdemeanor Penalties for violating the conditions imposed on him, as well as a decision of the Three-member Misdemeanor Court of Edessa, according to which he was sentenced to 13 months in prison for attempted theft, possession and use of a third party’s travel document.

A measure to ban entry into Schengen countries was also pending against him.
