A few months after the death of Ayandas Manthopoulos, the late actor’s estranged wife revealed that the family donated his organs, giving life to five people.
As Stella Tsiatsiou told ALPHA, the family donated the kidneys, liver and retinas, which 5 patients on the transplant list received.
Ayantas Manthopoulos passed away at the age of 61, in October 2013, after being hospitalized in the ICU following a serious stroke.
“Aias was gone. It was a machine that maintained his body, which I felt was already suffering…He gave life to five people. His kidneys were transplanted into people on dialysis for 6 and 8 years respectively. His liver also in a patient with major problems and with treatments, blood purifications and his eyes, his retinas and as strange as it sounds I would like to see the people, the ones who took Aia’s eyes. I don’t know how I’m going to handle seeing his eyes look at me again,” he said.
