By the end of 2025, 900-950 new cars will be on the roads of Attica buseswhile the fleet will also be renewed in Thessaloniki, the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport told SKAI 100.3, Christos Staikouras.
He explained that there are already 140 new electric buses on the streets of Athens and 110 on the streets of Thessaloniki, which are fully accessible for all citizens.
Mr. Staikouras announced that yesterday the audit conference approved two contractsin which private companies, specifically six KTEL buses and two tourist offices, take over the circulation of 211 new busesat the latest in nine months in Eastern and Western Attica, while another 300 natural gas buses are expected on the streets of the capital.
Regarding ticket evasion, he said that the number of inspectors is increasing, noting that the aim is that every month, the greater the amount collected in the OSY from the inspections, there will be announcements that will say that this money will be returned to the improvement of the means of transport for the benefit of the citizens.
The minister also mentioned that the modernization project of 14 trains of the Metro line 1 – former ISAP – is underway. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

Mr. Staikouras also noted that it is a personal commitment of him and the prime minister to find the 59 million required for the maintenance and good operation of the elevators in the metro stations.
