Front against her decontamination and of the illegally hung banners on its pillars and streets Thessalonikiformed the administration of the central municipality.
It is typical that in the last five months, around 200 illegal outdoor advertisements were detected, mainly related to artists’ appearances in nightclubs, concerts and other similar events, while they were imposed fines which reach 300,000 euros.
In the last municipal council alone, which met last Monday, fines amounting to 103,700 euros were approved by the House for eleven cases in which they were found hanging banners and posters in various parts of the city.
The amount of the fine starts from 1,000 euros and increases greatly depending on the size of the advertisement.
“We will continue the fight against decontamination. Our goal is not to impose a fine, but to get offenders to comply. We want, finally, to see our city clean, to recover the public space and to send the message in every direction that it is not possible for some people to post whatever they want and wherever they want”, the deputy mayor for Economic Planning and Municipal Affairs told APE – MPE Property of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, Giorgos Arvanitis.
It is noted that in addition to the imposition of a fine, the Cleaning Service is also informed about the removal and removal of the poster or banner, as according to the legislation outdoor advertising must not impede the free movement of pedestrians and vehicles and distract drivers as there is serious risk of traffic accidents.
