The establishment of a Police School in Kastoria was announced today by the Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis from the unspoiled city.

The Minister announced that the operation of the school “is planned if everything goes well for the Autumn of 2025”. It will be housed in the old Fur Auction Exhibition located within the city and according to estimates it is expected to host 500 probationary constables.

Mr. Chrysochoidis expressed the hope that the operation of the School “in the difficult times the city is going through, to provide life, to strengthen its economy and culture. I hope that we will soon return to Kastoria to inaugurate the School” he concluded.

The building of EDIKA belongs to the EBE of Kastoria, it was built at the beginning of 1990, it hosted the International Exhibition of Kastoria for many years, but then it was abandoned after the Association of Woolmakers built its own Exhibition Auction House. According to the announcements made, ANKO Kozani will undertake the technical part of the studies in order to turn the building into a modern Education center and the construction works of its conversion will be financed by the resources of the Region of Western Macedonia.

The Minister was welcomed by the Inspector General of Northern Greece, Lieutenant General Mr. Christos Bouloubasis and the General Regional Police Director of Western Macedonia, Brigadier General Mr. Konstantinos Spanoudis.

Earlier, a meeting was held in which the assistant of the General Regional Police Director of Western Macedonia, the Directors of the Police Directorates of Kastoria, Kozani and Florina, the Deputy Director of the Police Directorate of Grevena, the Commanders of the Departments of Order, Traffic, Security of all the services of Western Macedonia took part , as well as the heads of the Domestic Violence Offices from Kastoria, Grevena, Kozani and Florina.
