ELAS announced that by decision of the Director of the Athens Police, two public outdoor gatherings that have been announced for tomorrow, Saturday, July 6, in Paleo Faliro, are prohibited.

In particular, one gathering is scheduled for 19:20 at 30 Poseidonos Avenue by members of “El Hero” and the second at 18:00 at the waterfront of Flisvos by members of the collectives “Antifascists Initiative from the Southern Suburbs” & solidarity” and “Initiative of individuals against family pride”.

In addition, with the same decision, it is prohibited to hold any public open-air gathering related to the above gatherings from 12:00′ on 6-7-2024 to 23:59′ on 6-7-2024 in the urban network of the Municipality of Palaio Faliro, which is enclosed from the avenues:

Andreas Syngrou Avenue – Demosthenous – Nazliou – Cyprus – Pamphylia – El. Venizelos – Psaros – Agia Sophia – Sokratous – Costi Palamas – Kallikratos – Kountouriotou – Epirus – Amartolon – Lykourgos – Aeschylus – Pythagoras – Ethelonton – Praxitelous – Picrodafni – Poseidonos Avenue – Ioannou Fix – Apollonos Avenue – Floisvos Marina – Floisvos Park – Park of Naval Traditions – Andreas Syggrou Ave.

As emphasized in the relevant announcement: “The above prohibition is imposed, as the simultaneous holding of the above gatherings by groups of opposing positions poses a serious risk to public safety and threatens serious disruption of socio-economic life in the specific area, vehicular, pedestrian and media traffic Mass Transportation, the operation of the infrastructure and public facilities in the area.

In addition, the organizers of the two gatherings did not notify the local Police Authority of their intention to invite the general public to participate, at a specific place and time, in a public outdoor gathering as they should, in accordance with the provisions of article 3 paragraph 1 & 2 of Law 4703/2020 and article 3 of the Presidential Decree 73/2020, and therefore the prescribed procedure of the current legislation on public outdoor gatherings was not followed.”
