The extension under construction is expected to include six stations Line 4 of the Metro to the west, from Alsos Veikou to Petroupoli.

Currently, the extension from the “Alsos Veikou” station to the Municipality of Petroupoli, which will pass through Nea Ionia and Nea Philadelphia, is being studied.

This particular extension includes 6 new stations that will serve its areas N. Ioniaher N. Philadelphiaof St. Anargyronof Ilium and her Petersburg.

In fact, the new Line will also serve AEK fans, who will have easy access to the club’s new stadium.

Why was the original design changed?

In this context, the initial planning of the extension was changed, since at the beginning it was planned to build a station near the ISAP Station of the same name in Perissos and then in New Filadelfia at the intersection of Dekelia and Vryoulon Avenues.

It was found that there were significant reasons of choice alternative engraving of the project with a station near the station of the same name in Pefkakia instead of Perissos and then in N. Philadelphia in a public park of sufficient area for the construction of the Station (Asia Minor Memorial Park), at a distance of about 150 m from the “OPAP Arena”.

The budget of the project amounts to 600 million euros.

Line 4, U-shaped, consists of 2 radial legs, to Galatsi and Marousi, and a central section passing through the center of Athens, has a total length of 38.2 km, includes a total of 35 stations and consists of five separate sections, A, B, C, D and E:

  • Section A: Alsos Veikou-Goudis (12.8 km long and 15 stations)
  • Section B: Goudi-Marousi (9.6 km long and 8 stations)
  • Section C: Evangelismos-Ano Ilioupoli (4.1 km long and 3 stations)
  • Section D: Alsos Veikou-Petroupoli (7.5 km long and 6 stations)

Athens metro line 4

According to officials of Attiko Metro, the design of the Athens Metro, regarding the main project and its Extensions, results from specialized Transportation Studies, which take into account population criteria, the predicted transport demand, etc.

The scalability of the Athens Metro is a given, within the framework of maturity of the studies and subject to funding.
