The start of the fire that broke out today at noon in Marathon, its evolution and the intervention of air and ground forces is published by the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias, through his post on the “X” platform. Mr. Kikilias emphasizes that the fire was contained within 20 minutes while drawing attention to the following days underlining that “they will be very difficult due to the dangerous weather conditions”.
Specifically, Mr. Kikilias wrote:
“We see the start of the fire that broke out today at noon in Marathon, its dangerous evolution and the immediate intervention of three helicopters and ground forces and its containment within just 20 minutes. The state machinery is always on high alert. The next few days will be very difficult because of the dangerous weather conditions. Drought, very high temperatures and strong winds can turn even a spark into a wildfire. I appeal to citizens to be very careful and responsible.”
