A criminal investigation into the incident with the stray kitten which was found dead and violently abused, last week, in the area of ​​Lagadas of Thessaloniki, the prosecutor ordered.

By order of Dimitris Smyrnis, the head of the Thessaloniki First Instance Prosecutor’s Office, the criminal prosecution prosecutor asked the Lagadas Security Department to conduct a preliminary examination to establish whether the crime of killing a companion animal is substantiated.

As part of the investigation, according to information, it was requested that the veterinary report drawn up by the competent veterinarian be attached to the case file and that the representatives of the animal welfare organization that filed the lawsuit after the dead animal was found be called to testify.

In order to identify the perpetrator or perpetrators, the police officers who will conduct the investigation are ordered to collect material from security cameras in the area and, in general, any suitable means that can lead to their identification.

It will also be investigated if the above incident is connected to the one that had seen the light of day two weeks earlier, when again in the area of ​​Lagada, another cat was found that had been amputated on three legs. And for this case, it is recalled, that a preliminary investigation is being conducted by order of the public prosecutor.
