A 38-year-old martial arts coach, who is accused of sexually abusing three of his underage athletes, has been temporarily detained after his confession to the Thessaloniki investigator.
The accused tae kwon do coach was reported last year by his female athletes, who are now 16 and 17 years old (depending on the case).
The alleged acts appear to have been continuous and related to the period from March 2022 to June of the following year.
This was followed by an investigation by the Thessaloniki Sub-Directorate for the Protection of Minors of the Greek Orthodox Church, after which a case file was filed against the 38-year-old (today) coach and a criminal prosecution was brought by the prosecutor of the first instance, among other things, for the crime of rape.
He was called today to give an explanation to the investigator and with the consent of the prosecutor he was remanded in custody.
He himself, apologizing, denied the accusations, describing the complaints as false. According to information, among other things, he spoke of a “fraud” that was “set up” against him in order to blackmail him for financial gain.
