The 44-year-old man who was arrested for the murder of the 54-year-old surveyor in Psychiko was sentenced to temporary custody after his confession to the investigator, with serious indications of guilt which he denies.

According to information, during the interrogation, the 44-year-old who has a heavy criminal past, involved in a series of criminal actions including the kidnapping of the shipowner Periklis Panagopoulos, reportedly denied any involvement in the crime against the surveyor.

However, according to the police investigation, there is visual material linking him to the scooter, which appears at the scene of the crime, while traces of gunpowder were also found on his belt, while the investigations into the brutal murder are still on the police and investigative side in full development.

In his statements after the end of the process, the 44-year-old’s lawyer, Nikos Aletrassaid that his principal does not accept the charge and denies his involvement in the case.

His lawyer also stated that they were waiting for the decision on temporary detention and added that “I think the interrogation is at an early stage. The principal gave me the answers requested of him.

He was referred on evidence, while the interrogation is ongoing and today evidence was entered in the case file in his favor. The case will unravel in the future. There is no involvement of his, he denies it.

In any case, we await the procedural developments, the latest analyzes and the rest of the data.”

However, the investigation into the murder of the surveyor Panagiotis Stathis in Psychiko has now taken on other dimensions after the intervention of the Supreme Court Prosecutor Georgia Adelini herself, who ordered coordinated investigations to uncover phenomena of mafia-type criminal activity in Mykonos, other islands, Attica and Thessaloniki, as there are relevant complaints to the competent prosecuting authorities.

The upgraded investigation has already been assigned to Organized Crime.
