A strong presence for Ford at the Goodwood Festival of Speed

Ford is showcasing its best in both electrification and thermal powertrain technologies through a host of future icon models making their debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The new all-electric Ford Capri – a legend that has returned for the era of all-electric cars with sports car-like acceleration and expressive design – made its dynamic world debut at the famous Goodwood Hillclimb.

The Mustang GTD – the most sophisticated and daring Mustang ever – reveals its capabilities to the public for the first time, while the ground-breaking electric Ford SuperVan 4.2 shows its teeth in the Hillclimb Shootout.

One of the public’s best-loved cars is also returning to Goodwood. The reason for the Ford M-Sport Puma Hybrid Rally1, which is currently competing in the 2024 World Rally Championship.

Visitors to the Goodwood Festival of Speed ​​2024 will be the first in the world to see up close the new Ford Raptor T1+, a thoroughbred racing car that has been designed with the sole purpose of meeting the challenges of the world’s most demanding off-road competition. The exciting unveiling of the new Raptor T1+ will take place in the Ballroom Paddock on 12 July at 12:00 CEST, hosted by a world motorsport legend: four-time Dakar Rally winner and two-time World Rally Champion Carlos Sainz Snr .

Upcoming models show their skills

The new purely electric Ford Capri stars at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, featuring an expressive design that continues the history of a cult classic model.

Acceleration from 0-100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds, a range of up to 627 km and a luggage space of 572 liters make the all-electric Ford Capri the ultimate sports car for the family. Ford’s EV features a luxurious interior with a minimalist design and plenty of digital solutions. Ford’s revolutionary SYNC Move technology perfectly supports the functions of the central 14.6-inch touchscreen, which can be moved up and down. The new Ford Capri supports all its occupants with many smart technologies – such as automated lane change at the push of a switch. but also the surveillance for oncoming two-wheelers approaching as you open the doors. This is the first time the Mustang GTD has entered a public racing event competing in Batch 6A of the Goodwood Festival of Speed ​​against similar mass-produced supercars.

Visitors to this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed ​​will enjoy the power of the 5.2-litre turbocharged V8 engine which aims to produce more than 800 PS 7 along a 1.2-mile course. In addition to its active aerodynamics, the new Mustang GTD also impresses with its exterior design, which provides all owners with even more personalization options.

This premium experience begins with the owner working with the Mustang GTD Concierge team to guide them through the ordering process. Owners will be asked to indicate their preferred color for their personal GTD, with the team doing their best to achieve this, utilizing a truly vast range of tones and shades. After the color is formulated, owners will receive a sample of it to see how the color reacts in different lighting conditions and make sure it matches what they want for their vehicle. And for those who demand a truly unique Ford Mustang GTD, the exclusive Extended Color Palette Lock-Out Option is also available, guaranteeing that the color of the car will not be available to any other Mustang GTD owner.

On the Goodwood climb, the electric comes for the first time Ford SuperVan 4.2 aiming to achieve an excellent time in the Shootout. Key aerodynamic features include a lightweight carbon fiber rear spoiler and a front splitter, which help the SuperVan 4.2 stay stable on the track. The chassis has undergone a diet to further reduce weight – and improve the vehicle’s overall balance and agility.

Improvements have also been made to the drive system. By reducing the number of STARD UHP 6-phase motors from four to three and using STARD’s NMC Li-Polymer Ultra High Performance cells, the van achieves an improved power-to-weight ratio while maintaining the four-wheel drive system that now consists of a motor that feeds the front axle and two for the rear. With over 2,000 PS at its disposal, the SuperVan 4.2 can unleash its full potential and utilize the battery’s upgraded 600 kW regenerative power capability for optimal energy exploitation.

Ford Performance and STARD equipped the SuperVan 4.2 with a revised regenerative braking system with carbon ceramic disc brakes. The vehicle also features forged magnesium wheels. Pirelli P Zero racing tyres, upgraded driveshafts, Perspex windscreens, as well as a minimalist interior to further reduce excess weight.

Its world debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed ​​will make the Ford Raptor T1+Ford Performance’s latest racing vehicle designed in collaboration with M-Sport – Ford’s long-time racing partner – to compete in the Dakar Rally.
