The number of agroforestry fires that broke out in the last twenty-four hours across the country reached 26.

According to the Fire Department, 18 of them were dealt with immediately, in their initial stage, while the fire forces are dealing with another eight.

The fires in Komi Chios and Vrontero Prespa are without an active front, as was known by the Fire Brigade.

46 firefighters with 2 groups of infantry units of the 13th EMODE, 13 vehicles and two helicopters are working on the fire that broke out today in a rural area, near an area with mastic trees, between Komi and Kalamoti, Chios. Membership is provided by volunteers and local water bodies.

18 firefighters with 4 vehicles and a helicopter from the air are working on the fire that broke out in a forest area in Vrontero Prespa.

It is noted that the local investigative offices, as well as Units of the Arson Crimes Directorate (D.A.E.E.) are investigating the causes of the fires.

Finally, the Fire Department calls on all citizens to be especially careful and in the event of a fire, for their own safety, to faithfully follow the instructions of the competent Authorities.
