Above from 1,000 jobs, in approximately 200 businesses throughout the country, were covered within three months by recognized refugees who are accommodated in Structures of the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum, as part of the “Career Days” action.

In particular, nine events were organized, of which three in Attica (Malakasa, Ritsona, Serafion) and 6 in the Region (Thessaloniki, Ioannina, Lesvos, Samos, Chios and Kos), with the aim of connecting refugees and asylum seekers who are looking for work with employers of various branches who are active in Greece and have shortages of workers.

They participated a total of 2,112 refugees, 4,319 interviews were conducted and 1,285 jobs were offered to 965 people from 196 employers and businesses across the country. Resumes were prepared in advance and employers had the opportunity to speak personally with their future employees.

The entire project was the result of the cooperation of the Deputy Minister of Migration and Asylum, Sofia Voultepsi and the head of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Maria Clara Martin, with the contribution of the General Secretary of Reception and Identification, Stellina Siarapi and the assistance of the administrators and administrators of the Structures, where the creation of Integration Offices has already begun.

This is a key strategic goal that concerns the promotion of the employability of refugees, supporting the National Integration Strategy, for the benefit of both refugees and the Greek economy and society in general, as stated in a ministry announcement.

The responsibility for selecting the employers and monitoring the whole process rests with the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum and the United Nations High Commissioner, who select their partners on a case-by-case basis.

They took part in Thessaloniki 279 refugees and 15 employers, 775 interviews were conducted and there were 234 job offers. The organization SolidarityNow cooperated in the organization.

In Samos, the participants were 211, the employers 20, the interviews 116 and the job offers 67. This event was held in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM Greece) within the framework of the HELIOS program and the support of METAdrasis.

In Ioannina, 111 refugees and 12 employers participated, 266 interviews were conducted and 65 jobs were offered. The event was held in collaboration with the IOM through the HELIOS program and the support of Intersos Hellas – Intersos Greece, METAdrasis and the Municipality of Ioannina (Intercultural Social Integration Center “Academy”).

In Kos, participants were 154, employers 18, interviews 214 and job offers 88. The event was held in collaboration with the IOM through the HELIOS program and the support of the organizations METAdrasi, Praksis and Glocal Roots.

In Lesvos, the participants were 452, the employers 29, the interviews 991 and the job offers 219. The event was held with the cooperation of IOM, as well as METAdrasi – DrÃ¥pen i Havet, Lesvos Solidarity – Pikpa, Caritas Hellas, Eurorelief, Movement On The Ground, Iliaktida AMKE – Rad Music International, HIAS Greece, Siniparxi.

In Chios, the participants were 182, the employers 18, the interviews 278 and the job offers 49. The event was organized in collaboration with IOM within the framework of the HELIOS program with the support of the EU Agency for Asylum-EUAA, METAdrasi, Praksis, Zeuxis .

In Malakasa, participants were 124, employers 18, interviews 247 and job offers 168. The event was held in collaboration with IOM, through the HELIOS program, and with the support of Catholic Relief Services, Caritas Hellas, through the Center Adama, SolidarityNow and METAdrasi.

In Ritsona, participants were 330, employers 33, interviews 715 and job offers 248. The event was held in collaboration with IOM through the HELIOS program and the support of METAdrasi and SolidarityNow.

In Serafio, the participants were 269, the employers 33, the interviews 717 and the job offers 147. The action in Serafio was carried out on the initiative of the Working Group for Skill Development and Access to the Labor Market of the Coordination Center of the Municipality of Athens for Immigrants and Refugees ( ACCMR), with the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the framework of the HELIOS program (funded by the Ministry of Migration and Asylum) and the High Commissioner in cooperation with the following agencies: Hellenic Migrant Forum, METAdrasis, ActionAid, Caritas Hellas, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), International Rescue Committee (IRC), ITHACA, Junior Achievement Greece, Sistech, SolidarityNow.

In the context of the systematic effort to find workers in critical sectors of the Greek economy that have labor shortages (agricultural, construction, tourism, catering, manufacturing, supply chain), during 2023, 3,029 refugees found work.

12,342 stakeholders participated in the employment actions carried out by the Migrant Integration Centers of the Municipalities, the UN High Commission, the International Organization for Migration and 83 NGOs.
