Very high fire hazard (risk category 4) is predicted tomorrow in the regions of Attica, Peloponnese and Crete, as well as in areas of Central Greece, Northern Aegean, Western Greece, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, according to the Fire Risk Prediction Map issued by the general secretariat of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection (civilprotection.gov.gr).

In particular very high fire risk forecast tomorrow for the following areas:

• Region of Attica

• Region of Peloponnese

• Region of Central Greece (PE Boeotia, PE Evia, PE Fthiotida)

• Region of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace (Evros PE, Rodopi PE, Xanthi PE)

• North Aegean Region (Lesvos Region, Chios Region)

• Region of Western Greece (Ilia, Achaia)

• Region of Crete

The general secretariat of Civil Protection (civilprotection.gov.gr) of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection has informed the competent government agencies involved in the official service, as well as the regions and municipalities of the above areas, so that they are on increased civil protection readiness in order to face any fire incidents immediately.

At the same time, the GPP advises citizens to be especially careful and avoid outdoor activities that can inadvertently cause a fire, such as burning dry grass and twigs or cleaning residues, using machinery that causes sparks such as circular saws, welding equipment, using outdoor grills, smoking bees, throwing lighted cigarettes , etc. Also, it is reminded that during the fire protection season burning of fields is prohibited.

In the event of a fire, citizens are requested to immediately notify the Fire Service at the number 199.
