The petition was filed by the businessman and honorary president of the Hotel Chamber, Mr. Costas Leventis
The businessman and honorary president of the Hotel Chamber, Mr. Costas Leventis, filed a complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office of Volos, regarding the long delays in the start of the restoration projects in Pelion.
“I can’t tolerate it and I won’t tolerate it anymore. I am determined that only justice could come and clarify why necessary interventions were made, with such a delay in the largest tourist destination of mainland Magnesia.
Have you forgotten what planning means, what a tourist destination means, what Ai Giannis means, what Pelion means, what respect means to the visitor, what means respect to the professional”, he wonders, and in the petition he asks for the following data to be investigated:
“Please investigate the establishment of any criminal responsibilities of each person involved and in the event that they are found to bring the appropriate criminal prosecution and in particular please investigate the following:
1. Who or who bears the responsibility for this long delay in repairing the damage caused by the floods in the area of Agios Ioannis Peli, which damages all professionals in the tourism sector and undermines the good reputation of the area that we have acquired with chronic effort?
2. What are the funds paid by the state to the Local Government (Municipality, Region) for this purpose?
3. If the announced or approved funds were not paid, or if they were not paid in the total amount announced or approved, who is responsible for this, the state machinery or the local government that possibly obstructed or did not proceed in time with the prescribed procedure to be approved and to collect them? Is it that everyone is responsible to the extent that each one has, and what responsibility does each person bear?
4. If indeed these funds were collected by the local government, why were they not used in time and especially before the start of the tourist season, as they had promised and it goes without saying?
5. Were studies required for the projects and if so for which ones and to whom was the study assigned? What timeline was there for the completion of each study? Was the schedule met and if not why and with what consequences?
6. Who made the decision to carry out the projects at this time in the middle of the high tourist season and based on what justification?
