Efforts to control and extinguish the large fire in Mount Falakrowhich started at noon of the previous Wednesday from two lightning strikes and continues to this day burning only grassy areas.

The water drops from the aerial firefighting equipment are continuous and intense, as due to the fact that the fire is in an inaccessible area and it is difficult for pedestrians to approach it. The firefighting task is made even more difficult by the strong winds blowing up the mountain.

After noon the overall picture of the fire in the area is more improved and the smoke has been reduced. They continue to attempt powerful forces consisting of by 112 firefighters with ten forestry teams, nine vehicles and three aircraft.

Support is also provided by six project vehicles, which try to create fire zones where they can, as the area is rocky, difficult to pass with steep ravines.

Although there is still no official statement on the area that had been burnt, it is estimated that around 11,000 hectares of grassland have already been destroyed. In fact, on Sunday afternoon the fire descended south and east towards the area of the village of Dendrakia, but without threatening the village itself, as aerial vehicles were able to limit its extent.
