Citizens should be extra careful
High fire hazard (risk category 3) is predicted tomorrow, Monday, August 5, 2024, for several regions of the country, according to the Fire Risk Prediction Map issued by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection (civilprotection.gov.gr)
Specifically, a high risk of fire is predicted for the following areas:
- Attica and regions of Central Greece, Peloponnese, Western Greece and Epirus
- Magnesia, Sporades, Pieria and areas of Larissa
- Thessaloniki, Halkidiki, Kilkis, Thassos and areas of Evros
- Heraklion, Lasithi, Dodecanese and North-East Aegean, Aegean and Ionian Islands
It is pointed out, however, that in areas where lightning strikes, the risk of fire is increased
It is recalled that during the Anti-Fire Period:
– It is forbidden to burn garbage or dry grass and branches in the open air
– It is forbidden to use tools that create sparks in outdoor areas with vegetation
– We do not light outdoor grills in forests or in areas where there are dry grasses and vegetation
