The Ministry of Immigration and Asylum has taken targeted actions for the immediate information and assistance of Ukrainian refugees arriving in Greece.
Auxiliary information for the displacement of displaced persons from Ukraine is detailed in Ukrainian, Greek and English, in the link of the website of the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum.
Specifically, the website contains useful information on the process of entry of Ukrainian refugees from the Greek border, the provision of temporary protection, material benefits and hosting conditions, as well as special instructions for the protection of Unaccompanied Minors.
With the aim of easy communication of Ukrainian refugees, from now on, Monday to Friday (7:00 -22: 00), a call center (help desk) for the provision of information in Ukrainian, Greek and English (tel: +30 213 1629600) operates.
It is also possible to communicate via e-mail at [email protected].
In addition, the actions of the Ministry of Immigration to assist refugee flows from Ukraine are as follows:
1. Provision of Temporary Protection
The entry of Ukrainian refugees into Greece automatically implies the exemption from the visa requirement for transit for a total of 90 days. Within 90 days, the Asylum Service of the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum will provide temporary protection of one (1) year with the right of access to the labor market and medical care in accordance with Directive 2001/55 of the Council of the European Union
2. Guidelines for Ukrainian refugees without travel documents
Ukrainian citizens who do not have travel documents, can enter only from the Passport Control Department of Promachonas (tel. +30 23230 41079), where a relevant document will be issued in cooperation with the staff of the Ukrainian embassy in Greece.
3. Material Facilities and Hospitality
The possibility of short-term accommodation is provided in the Sintiki accommodation structure, which is a short kilometer away from the Passport Control Department of Promachonas.
For the extension of hosting for a longer period, an application must be submitted to the email [email protected].
4. Unaccompanied Minors
The Special Secretariat for the Protection of Unaccompanied Minors is already active with the assistance of Embassies, International Organizations and NGOs to locate unaccompanied minors at Ukraine’s borders with other European countries, in order to either provide know-how or regulate child transportation and accommodation in Greece.
In case of arrival of unaccompanied minors at the Greek border, the National Emergency Response Mechanism for Unaccompanied Minors in precarious living conditions of the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum is activated for the transfer of children to special emergency accommodation structures and then the procedure is followed if necessary.
