A young woman in Almyros was severely beaten by her husband, his sister and his mother. Their financial differences brought the conflict to an extreme and the young woman – mother of two children aged 3.5 and 6.5 years – ran beaten up the police.

The day before yesterday afternoon, her husband came home and asked her to give him €2,000, money she had been saving from child benefits.

The 30-year-old woman resisted, but gave the money and as soon as her husband took it in his hands, he started beating her.

“Even though I gave them to him, he started punching me,” she said in her testimony.

Her mother-in-law, who lives with the couple, “invaded” the room when she heard her daughter-in-law calling for help.

“Don’t scream, I’ll kill you,” the 64-year-old told her and started slapping her. The man’s sister, who is staying at the couple’s house in Almyros, for vacation, also took part in the beating.

Yesterday, all three perpetrators were taken to the police station with the young woman, the victim of the beating, with her two young children.

The three perpetrators will be tried on Monday as they requested a deadline.

They bear her accusations domestic simple bodily harmillegal violence and sexual indignity.

Mother and children are accommodated in a friendly home.
