High forest was about 10% of the area burned by the big fire, which started at noon on Sunday in the area of ​​Varnavas and reached as far as Patima Vrilissio and Patima Chalandriou.

According to the analysis of very high definition satellite images implemented by the National Forest Fire Observatory EPaDaP/ Laboratory of Forest Management and Remote Sensing of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki | Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), with which the General Directorate of Forests and Forest Environment of the General Secretariat of Forests of the Hellenic Ministry of Environment and Energy has developed cooperation, results:

Of the total burned area, approximately 10% consisted of tall forest with woody vegetation, while the remaining forested areas consisted of low, scrubby forest vegetation and rocky-stony soils with scrubby and grassland vegetation. The above percentage also includes the natural regeneration (of a different stage of its development) from previously burned areas.
