One hundred and four houses unfit for use in the fire-stricken areas of North and East Attica so far
Since last Tuesday (13/8) the echelons of the General Directorate for the Rehabilitation of the Effects of Natural Disasters (GDAEFK) of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, are on a daily basis and carry out checks and autopsies on building infrastructure in areas of Northern and Eastern Attica after the August 11 fires.
Specifically, the GDAEFK levels were activated, under the guidance of the general secretariat of Natural Disaster Recovery and State Aid, with more than 60 engineers, and autopsies were carried out in eight municipalities of Attica, having completed most of the autopsies work, which will continue in the following days in communication and consultation with the owners and the municipalities of the area.
In particular, the autopsies of her echelons GDAEFK took place in fire-affected areas of the municipalities of Vrilissi, Dionysos, Marathon, Pallini, Penteli, Rafina-Pikermio, Chalandrio and Oropos, in a context of close cooperation with the municipalities, as the visits and autopsies are based on the guidance and information provided by the organizations’ executives Local Government.
In total, so far, in the above eight municipalities of Attica, 184 autopsies have been carried out in buildings, of which 158 in residences, 21 in warehouses, 2 in public buildings and 3 in business premises.
From these autopsies it has emerged that 104 houses are characterized as unfit for use and to be demolished (“red”) and temporarily unfit for use requiring repair work (“yellow”), with the distribution in the two categories being 40 and 64 respectively.
Also, 54 houses, after the autopsies, are classified as suitable for use (“green”) with some possibly light damages.
The autopsies will continue from the ranks of the GDAEFK in the following days in Attica, in a context of close cooperation with the municipalities, which collect the requests of the citizens.
Finally, regarding the work of the State Aid Committees of the Attica Region, which are also in the field and carry out autopsies on businesses, 30 cases of businesses affected by the fire have been recorded so far.
