One hundred and forty-six (146) houses are classified as unfit for use and demolishable (“red”) and temporarily unfit for use requiring repair work (“yellow”), with the distribution in the two categories being 55 and 91 respectively after the fires of August 11th. Also, 96 houses are characterized – after the autopsies – as suitable for use (“green”) with some – possibly – light damages.

From Tuesday, August 13, 2024, the levels of the General Directorate for the Rehabilitation of the Effects of Natural Disasters (GDAEFK) of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection are on a daily basis and carry out checks and autopsies on building infrastructure in areas of Attica after the fires of August 11, 2024 The autopsies of the GDAEFK levels took place in the fire-affected areas of the Municipalities of Vrilissi, Dionysos, Marathon, Megareo, Pallini, Penteli, Rafina-Pikermio, Chalandrio and Oropos, in a context of close cooperation with the Municipalities.

Today, August 19, 2024, the work of the first basic phase of the GDAEFK autopsies in Attica was completed, with more than 60 engineers, which included the general “scanning” of the fire-affected areas of Attica and the response to all the requests of the Municipalities. Now, during the second phase, the levels of the GDAEFK are in collaboration with the Municipalities and autopsies are being launched following the sending of data by the Municipalities to the GDAEFK, but also after consultation with the owners.

In total, so far, in the above nine Municipalities of Attica, 277 autopsies have been carried out in buildings, of which 242 in residences, 28 in warehouses, 3 in public buildings and 4 in business premises.

During the second phase, the autopsies will continue from the levels of the GDAEFK, in a context of close cooperation with the Municipalities, which collect the requests of the citizens.

Finally, as regards the work of the State Aid Committees of the Attica Region, which also carry out autopsies on businesses, 31 cases of businesses affected by the fire have been recorded so far.
