Increased road safety measures throughout the country during the celebration of Halloween and Shrove Monday.
The implementation of the measures aims to improve road safety and prevent road accidents.
During the festive season, bans on trucks with a payload of more than 1.5 tons will apply.
The Hellenic Police, in view of the celebration of Halloween and Shrove Monday, takes increased traffic measures, during the period from 4 to 7 March 2022, throughout the road network of the country, in order to safely move citizens and prevent road accidents .
The planning was carried out with the care of the Traffic Police Directorate of the Hellenic Police Headquarters and includes the main directions for the development of measures throughout the country’s road network, as well as the individual interventions, based on local problems and special traffic conditions. , by wider area or region.
At the same time, the planning provides for the allocation of the necessary resources for the implementation of the measures, as well as the required coordination and supervision of the Services involved, in order to achieve the best possible results.
Throughout the implementation of the measures, both the staff and the means of the Hellenic Police, mainly of the Traffic Police Services, will be on increased operational readiness. Specifically, patrols, motorcycles and conventional vehicles will be available, with the appropriate personnel and equipment for the effective policing of the country’s road network.
Road safety measures aim at the preventive and deterrent presence, but also at the implementation of traffic controls and intoxication control (breathalyzer) to address the “dangerous” violations, which are the main causes, mainly of fatal road accidents.

Increased traffic policing measures at the entrances and exits of large urban centers, where there is heavy traffic
Timely ensuring cooperation and coordination with all co-competent Bodies – Services, where required
Regulation of traffic with pedestrian traffic wardens, at basic intersections, to avoid traffic congestion
Establishment of general and special traffic control teams (especially for the certification of dangerous infringements as well as infringements based on statistics responsible for causing serious traffic accidents such as speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, overtaking, mobile phones, etc. driving, non-use of protective helmet – belt, worn tires)
Increased traffic measures in places where there is mass movement of passengers (airports, ports, stations, etc.)
Traffic regulations in places where festive events will take place
Checks for arbitrary occupation of public spaces and sections of streets and sidewalks to secure parking spaces and
informing the citizens through the competent communication services of the House, in any case where it becomes necessary to widely inform the public about the existence of any traffic and other problems.
It is noted that, during the festive period, the bans on the movement of trucks with a payload of more than 1.5 tons will apply.
The Hellenic Police, on the occasion of the upcoming festive season, reminds again to all drivers and users of the road network that road safety is a matter for all of us.
In this context, it recommends to the citizens:
