After almost 10 days, the port, beaches and shores, even Xerias have been 100% cleaned – The swimming ban remains in force
The entire coastline of Volos is now clean of dead fish, as almost after 10 days, more than 280 tons of dead fish were removed and the area is now back to normal.
According to the Post Office, the deputy governor of Magnesia and Sporades, Anna Maria Papadimitriou, said yesterday that the port, beaches and coasts, even Xirias both at its estuary and along it, through which the dead fish were channeled into the sea, have cleaned by crews of the Region of Thessaly, the Port Organization and the Municipality of Volos.
In fact, the Region of Thessaly released a short video showing the restoration of the beach front.

The swimming ban is in effect
However, according to ERT, the swimming ban remains in force for the time being, as the final results from the water samples are awaited.
According to the latest estimates, the ban may be lifted soon, possibly even within the day, if the analyzes of the EODY allow it.
The measurements have shown that the water burden is within the permissible limits, while after the restoration of the beaches, it will be decided whether they can be accessed by swimmers.
