Lignadi trial: Prosecution for forgery of the 27-year-old who complains of rape – Tension in the Mixed Jury

by

With the lawyer of Dimitris Lignadis stating that he is suing the 27-year-old for forgery, who yesterday opened the circle of testimonies of the men who have accused the artist of rape, the testimony before the MOD of the first victim of the case was completed.

As of this morning, the witness who started testifying yesterday about a rape he claims he suffered at the age of 16, was examined by the lawyer of the accused for four rapes, Alexis Kougia, while in many cases there was tension in the trial.

The lawyer, considering that the 27-year-old, now a permanent resident abroad, has given a false testimony, stated that he will sue him, even asking him to state his address in the country where he lives or the address of the house in Athens where he is staying, to notify him of the lawsuit. . The witness replied that he did not want to say the address of the house where he lived because he was afraid. “I’m begging you. I feel safe. During this time I have my worries. I do not want to say where I live and where I sleep at night while I am in Greece “.

The defense’s questions provoked the reaction of the victims, who, after pointing out that the witness’s details are known to the court, stressed that the way the questions are formulated is “indirectly intimidating”.

Mr. Kougias asked a lot of questions to the 27-year-old about his profession and in general his CV, his studies and every other detail about his life. He focused particularly on the way the witness presents himself on platforms. Showing him a series of photos on the Linkedin network and stating that “the photos you post on the internet show the image of a man who frequents rich places and wants to present his body”, the lawyer had the following dialogue with the 27-year-old:

Alexis Kougias: Why do you keep showing your body?

Witness: What next? In a photo

Alexis Kougias: Here; The arms?

Witness: I like to work out

Alexis Kougias: Do you have any photos of the serious broker here? Who are you addressing? What is your customer base?

The defendant’s lawyer also asked the witness about the interview of the complainant Dimitris Lignadis, which was, as the 27-year-old testified yesterday, an occasion for him to file a lawsuit against the artist. The lawyer said that the witness is not sure which of the two men who spoke publicly at that time, saw the interview and stressed that the names of his client were not mentioned in the broadcasts in question.

Kougias: In the shows you say, the name of Lignadis is not mentioned.

Witness: I read newspapers and saw him on shows.

After a brief interruption of the hearing at that point, the chair returned with the chair requesting clarification from the witness regarding changes in the dates of the events he complained about.

-President: Why didn’t you first wait to talk to your friends about the right dates and then file a lawsuit? What is the reason for the rush?

Witness: I did not want to talk to friends and relatives because I did not want anyone to stop me.

-President: Why should they stop you?

Witness: Because after they learned they were scared. This is their mentality, do not get involved.

-President: Why should the lawsuit be filed then and not after a month? Would the accused leave? Would the deed expire?

Witness: I thought that was the right time. I felt I had to get into it quickly.

-President: Why?

Witness: When I got the lawyer and we talked he told me that then was the right time to file a lawsuit.

-President: Why didn’t you first wait to talk to witnesses when ten years had passed? What would you gain from this situation?

Witness: I was not very well at that time, I wanted to write it and send it.

-President: You mean you were not well.

-Yannis Vlachos (lawyer): He mentions the witnesses in the lawsuit. The same night the Police went and found one.

Alexis Kougias: We have understood the work you did with Mr. Spyropoulos (s.s. means the prosecutor who investigated the allegations).

President: Please! Come…

A next round of questions, from the four-hour examination of the witness, concerned some communications that the 27-year-old had after the rape in 2011 with Lignadis, with Mr. Kougia stating that in 2015-2016 the witness had contacted his client.

-Alexis Kougias: Do you ask your rapist in the year 2015-2016 if he will do something? Would you ever know anyone?

Witness: I did it to get rid of the question. I have since deleted him.

– Alexis Kougias: Is the accused gay?

Witness: I do not know if he is gay. I know he is a pedophile.

-Yannis Vlachos: Will we bring sexism and fascism into the room? Let him ask his client if he is gay. These things are against the law. But are there questions about people’s sexual orientation, which is a personal fact?

According to Mr. Kougia, the witness “is a common swindler” who did not tell the truth about his professional identity, as the lawyer stated, commenting on what the 27-year-old said.

During the defense of the accused artist, the witness “fell into 19 contradictions and for this reason we request the application of article 38 and to forward the lawsuit to the prosecutor to prosecute”.

For his part, the 27-year-old’s lawyer stated that he reserves the right to comment at the next meeting.

The trial is set to begin on March 18.
