The new school year begins today September 11th with the first bell ringing at 8:15 for the younger and older students signaling the end of summer and the start of the new school year.

The first day will take place with the established consecration and then the students will get their books. However, won’t ring the bell today in all schools of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace due to the dangerous weather phenomena of Atena. Specifically, the consecration in the schools of Eastern Macedonia-Thrace (Drama, Kavala, Xanthi, Rodopi, Evros) and Lemnos will take place on Thursday.

This year the first bell brings 11 changes for students and teachers, as the Ministry of Education has already announced a few days ago, with students initially being asked to leave their cell phones at home or switched off in their bag, otherwise they will be reprimanded and they must be particularly careful with their absences.

According to Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the first change is that this year the year starts with 10,000 more permanent teaching staff and 20,000 substitutes in parallel support.

Second change is the creation of autonomous classes in critical areas. Very small islands get schools with physical presence of teachers for basic subjects.

Tuesday change, the lesson will be done with the 40,000 interactive boards that will be installed by the end of 2024 in all classes from the fifth grade of elementary school to the third grade of high school.

Wednesday change, parents through the eparents app will be able to track grades and absences. “Sorry guys,” says Mr. Mitsotakis.

Thursday change, the new operating regulation of schools that obliges parents to restore from their own pocket the damage caused by the student.

Sixth change, the initiation of active citizen actions on school violence, the environment, sports and mental health.

Seventh change, the digital tutorial for 120,000 students of the Third High School.

Eighth change, the individual counseling for the students of the 1st Lyceum for professional orientation

Ninth change, the emphasis on informatics and the updating of the content of textbooks in the Middle School.

Tenth change, is “the big bet that we all have to win together. During school hours, the mobile phone in the bag”.
