A 30-year-old Turkish citizen was arrested on Wednesday in a house where he lived in Chios, by police officers of the island.

The police managed to arrest him, thanks to information from competent agencies, as a result of which the 30-year-old has been targeted by the Security Authorities for some time.

A pistol, cartridges, as well as a fake ID and an Italian driver’s license were found in his possession, which were confiscated. The police also confiscated his mobile phone, which they are examining.

A case was filed against him for violation of the Arms Act and forgery.

The 30-year-old is said to be member of a Turkish organized crime group codenamed “Hawks”.

It is recalled that at the beginning of the year the Turkish police carried out two sweep operations, to which they gave the name “Cell”, arresting dozens of members of this organization.

Among them is the alleged leader of the gang, who appears to be on friendly terms with the leader of Turkey’s nationalist party, Devlet Bakhceli.

The announcement of the Police

A foreigner (30 years old) was arrested on 11/9 in Chios, by police officers of the Chios Security Sub-Directorate, against whom a criminal case was filed for the crime of forging certificates, as well as for violating the weapons legislation.

In particular, after an appropriate evaluation and utilization of evidence, the arrested person was located in the city of Chios and in the subsequent investigation, in a house where he lives in the same area, in the presence of a judicial officer, the following were found and confiscated:

-pistol,
– magazine,
-41 cartridges,
-2 documents from Italian authorities (identity and driver’s license), which showed signs of forgery.

During the investigation of this particular case, it was established that the arrested person possessed the pistol and cartridges illegally, while a mobile phone in his possession was also confiscated.

The preliminary investigation work is carried out by the Chios Security Sub-Directorate.
