Unbelievable scenes of violence unfolded yesterday morning outside Apokoronas Town Hall in Vryses, in yet another incident of brutal domestic violence.

According to information from ERT Chania, the ex-husband of a 40-year-old municipal employee tried to grab their four-year-old child from his mother’s hands to take him – as he claimed – to school. The woman tried to prevent him and then he, according to eyewitnesses, punched her in the head and hands, while he also kicked her in the leg.

The intensity of the attack was such that the little boy found himself on the road, in front of the wheels of a car, which fortunately stopped in time. Municipal employees rushed to save the woman who went to the local Health Center, while the police were also informed. According to reliable information, this was not the first time the woman had been a victim of violence by her ex-husband. In fact, this was the reason she left him, taking their then 5-month-old baby with her. The perpetrator of the attack was finally arrested after the automatic procedure and is expected to apologize to the Prosecutor at 11 tomorrow morning. The testimony of the woman – who states that she fears for her life – in the domestic violence department, lasted 2 1/5 hours, while tomorrow it is expected to be examined by a medical examiner.
