A police officer who was convicted of illegal migrant trafficking was punished with disqualification
The police officer who had been arrested and convicted for involvement in the illegal trafficking of immigrants, through the international airport “Macedonia” of Thessaloniki, where he served, was punished with the penalty of disbarment.
According to what became known, his case was discussed before the Primary Disciplinary Council of EL.AS Officers. who decided to impose the above penalty on him, against which he has the right to appeal to be judged by the second-level disciplinary body of the House.
Last April, he was sentenced to 7 years and 8 months in prison by the Three-member Court of Criminal Appeals of Thessaloniki, which found him guilty of gang, facilitating exit from the country and inciting – offering to commit criminal acts.
The court, then, decided to conditionally suspend the execution of the sentence before the Court of Appeal, with the result that the 47-year-old, with the rank of police officer B, will be out of prison, where he has been held since June 2023, when he was arrested by his colleagues from the Sub-Directorate of Internal Affairs of Security Forces of Northern Greece.
