Erick Jacquin will reinforce the tenth edition of the Brazilian Beer Contest, the result of which will be announced this Tuesday (8), in Blumenau (SC). The French chef, who runs the Ça Va and Président restaurants in São Paulo, has become famous on television as a judge on Masterchef Brasil and host of Nightmare in the Kitchen.
The main award in the brewing sector in the country, the CBC will be open to the public this year, with a party scheduled for the Don Concept Hall (r. Itajaí, 1047, Vorstadt), starting at 7:30 pm, with tickets at R$ 80 on the floor and R$ $300 in stateroom. With two musical attractions (Laskera’s and Dazaranha bands), admission also includes open beer (with different beers) and open food (until 10 pm).
Usually the result of the contest is announced at an event only with the presence of the brewers and guests; and followed in the following days by the Brazilian Beer Festival, when many of the award-winning beers are available for public tasting.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the festival has been postponed to May. The opening to the public of the publicity of the contest on Tuesday night was a way to soften the absence of the festival a little.
In its tenth edition, the Brazilian Beer Contest broke the record for the number of samples submitted, with more than 3,500 labels of 160 styles from 21 states. The darling of Brazilians india pale ale is the record holder of the year, with 211 samples, followed by american pale ale (125) and catharina sour (117).
The best beers of each style win gold, silver or bronze medals. The brewery with the most medals is considered the main one in the country. In addition, the judges choose the “Best of Show” beer, the best of all competitors.
