A new boat with immigrants was spotted off the coast of Gavdos, triggering an alarm for the authorities.

According to information, everything happened today when the authorities were informed of the existence of a wooden boat with 22 migrants 37 nautical miles south of Gavdos.

Two cargo ships with the flags of the Marshall Islands and the Netherlands were found at the scene, which collected the migrants who are all in good health and transported them to the port of Paleochora.

According to information from cretapost, the 45 migrants started by boat from the Tobruk region of Turkey.

In fact, they had paid large sums of money to get the coveted ticket to board the ship. As established from their depositions, the cost of this trip was 5,000-6,000 euros.

Immediately, officers of the Port Authority went to the scene, where they identified 43 immigrants (40 men, 1 woman and 2 minors, of whom, according to their statement, 33 are from Pakistan, 7 from Bangladesh and 3 from Sudan), whom they released with the assistance of private boats.

They were then transported to the port of Kokkinos Pyrgos and then to the port of Heraklion, accompanied by EL.A.S. officials.

In further investigations by officials of the Phaistos Police Department, two more people (Sudanese nationals), aged 18 and 27, who were identified as the traffickers of the remaining foreigners, were located in the settlement of Pitsidia in the Municipality of Phaistos.
