Initially, the recipe shared on TikTok by recipe creator Grace Elkus, it’s an easy breakfast made with just two ingredients: slice and eggs. To prepare it, simply melt feta in a pan over medium heat, crack an egg on top and cover until the yolk is cooked to your liking.

While the egg and feta are all you need, Elkus suggests adding some black pepper and red pepper flakes, but avoiding extra salt, as the feta is quite salty. If you liked the eggs with pesto or eggs with chili oil that are also on TikTok, you can easily incorporate the same flavors into eggs with feta by pouring pesto or chili oil over the melted feta before adding the eggs.

Whether you prefer eggs with plain feta or with additional ingredients, the only thing you need to be careful of is to use full-fat feta so that it melts properly. If you like a crunchier result, wait until the feta is completely melted before adding the eggs. By the time they are cooked, the feta will have acquired a perfect golden crust. When you’re ready to serve them, Elkus suggests putting them in tortillas to turn this simple recipe into a full breakfast. Some on TikTok also paired them with avocado toast. The results are just as delicious, especially if you’re a fan of feta.

@graceelkus 5-minute feta fried eggs: you’ll thank me next time you’re hungry 🍳 Inspired by Ali Slagle’s potato, egg, and cheese tacos 🧀 Heat small nonstick skillet over medium heat. Crumble in feta around the perimeter. Crack egg into center? season w/ black pepper & red pepper flakes (no need to add salt, the feta is plenty salty) Cover pan and cook until white is set, yolk is still runny, and cheese is unbelievably crispy. Serve atop toast, w/ hash browns, or my personal fave: in a charred tortilla with avocado & lime. You can oil the skillet, esp. if you’re not using nonstick, but I find the cheese gets crispier w/o More tips on my IG @graceelkus #friedeggs #feta ♬ Midnight City – M83
