The prosecutor requested that the former deputy governor of Karditsa and an official be found guilty of causing a flood through negligence
The acquittal of all the defendants on the charge of negligent homicide was proposed by the prosecutor of the Three-Member Misdemeanor Appeal Court of Larisa, in trial for the Mediterranean cyclone “Jan” which “hit” Karditsa in September 2020, as a result of which four people lost their lives and massive damage was caused in the area.

The ten defendants are the former regional governor of Thessaly, the former deputy regional governor of Karditsa, the mayors of Karditsa and Mouzaki, the General Secretary of Civil Protection, the president of TOEB Tauropos, two executives of the Directorate of Technical Services of the Region of Thessaly and the Regional Unit of Karditsa and two executives of Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Company of Karditsa (DEVAK).
