The Union of Judges and Prosecutors calls for the reinstatement of Christmas and Easter gifts, as well as the summer leave allowance (13th and 14th salary) in the public sector.

In this context, he sent a relevant document to the Minister of National Economy, while a meeting was already held between the vice-president of the Union, Charalambos Sevastides, and the director of the office of the Deputy Minister of Finance on the issue in question.

In particular, the relevant announcement of the Union of Judges and Prosecutors is as follows:

“The Union of Judges and Prosecutors is now officially raising the issue of restoring the 13th and 14th salary in the public sector. The request was submitted today in writing to the competent Minister of National Economy, while yesterday a meeting was held between the vice-president of the Union, Charalambos Sevastides, and the director of the office of the deputy minister on this issue.

The Union considers that the justifying reason for the abolition of holiday and leave allowances must be considered to have disappeared after the country entered the so-called “post-memorandum era”.

The institution of gifts, which is still valid in the private sector, must remain alive in the public sector as well.

It reflects more than a hundred years of struggles and conquests of the workers given in extremely difficult and adverse political and economic conditions.

Our request is fair and requires wider social support.

The Union requested a meeting with the responsible minister again.”
