Him annual staff recruitment planning, as well as the maximum number of hires allowed personal private law fixed term/tenancy project in the public sector for the year 2025, in accordance with the recommendation of the Public Sector Human Resources Committee, the Council of Ministers approved today, following a presentation by the Minister of the Interior, Theodori Livaniou and the Deputy Minister of the Interior, Vivis Charalambogianni.

For 2025, a total of 19,181 recruitments of regular and salaried staff were approved.

The distribution of recruitments, in accordance with the government priorities and based on the information from the Ministry of the Interior, focuses mainly on the following sectors:

◦ Health: a total of 4,016 positions were approved, to strengthen the National Health System, which fulfills the Prime Minister’s pre-election commitment of 10,000 recruitments following last year’s approval of 6,500 positions.

◦ National Defense: the entire request of the productive schools and an additional 2,000 professional hoplites were approved.

◦ Local Government: of the strongest reinforcements of the period from 2020 onwards. Intensity in specialized staff and remuneration. Care for meeting the needs of agencies based in the affected areas, as well as in the smaller municipalities.

◦ Climate crisis: emphasis on the fire department. All production school demand (330) plus specialist duty firefighters (450 Forestry Operations & Special Duty Firefighters), plus 51 other specialist Corps and Ministry positions (helicopter operators, engineers, cox navigators).

• Citizen Protection: 1050 in the productive schools (Probationary Constables and Deputy Constables) and 600 Special Guards. In addition to these, 100 security guards and external guards for the local detention centers and the Eleonas Rehab Center.

• Education: faculty members including appointments in university and medical schools and hospitals. Teachers for the 2025-2026 school year will be approved separately in May 2025.

• Justice: 100 court officers and more, 272 clerks and other staff to support the faster functioning of the courts.

◦ Social cohesion and family: strengthening the structures of the newly established Ministry with 372 positions.

◦ e-EFKA: 220 seats.

◦ Control mechanisms – Independent Authorities: 550 positions in AADE, 60 in the Independent Labor Inspection Authority, 61 in RAAEF.

◦ Transportation: 370 positions in OSY – STASY.

◦ Reinforcement of consular authorities: 100 seats.

◦ Agricultural policy: 186 posts in the central service and the supervised bodies.

It is noted that the planning of 19,181 recruitments in the State for 2025, is a continuation of the 91,819 recruitments that have been approved for the years 2020 to 2024, with the result that the approved recruitments for the five years 2000-2025 have risen to 111,000. Out of the total of approximately 111,000 approved recruitments:

• 26.1% concerns education
• 17.5% concerns health
• 13.2% concerns defense
• 11.7% concerns the local government
• 7.3% concerns the protection of the citizen
