A traffic accident with two deaths occurred shortly after 15:30 in the afternoon on the Itea – Nafpaktos highway at approximately 24.6 km at the height of Agios Vassiliou.
According to lamiareport.gr, Under currently unknown circumstances, an ICHE with passengers an elderly couple crossed into the opposite direction, where it collided head-on with another vehicle heading towards Nafpaktos and also two passengers aged around 30 years.
The passengers of the second car were also the ones who notified the authorities and ambulances, patrol cars, and three fire engines rushed to the scene and took on the difficult task of extricating the elderly couple from the wreckage of the first vehicle.
With the use of special techniques, they managed to free the two people who they delivered unconscious to the ambulance. Both people from the second vehicle were injured and were taken to Amfissa Hospital.
A preliminary investigation into the exact causes of the accident was undertaken by AT Iteas, while an autopsy was also ordered.
