Nikos and Dimitris Plakias, parents of Thomas, Christina and Anastasia, twin sisters and cousins respectively, who lost their lives in the Tempo train tragedy, were sent by Maria Karystianou, president of the Tempo Victims’ Association and mother of 20-year-old Martha, who she also lost her life when the two trains collided.

The cause of the controversy was the organization of a concert by the Association in Kallimarmaro with a ticket of 15 euros.

According to Ms. Karystianou, the fee for the concert was decided in order to raise money for the legal battles of the families of the victims abroad.

Nikos Plakias as well as other relatives of the victims publicly expressed their opposition to the concert being held for a fee.

“I would like to address and ask one of the presidents of the bar associations of Greece to tell us: How much does an aggressive appeal to the European Courts cost? So out of curiosity? I know, as do all family lawyers. But I would also like the world to learn from some neutrals”, he characteristically asked X.

On the occasion of the above, Maria Karystianou sent an extrajudicial letter both to him and to his brother, Dimitris, in which she states, among other things, that “from the first moment you appeared in the spotlight, you and the small group that seems to identify with your views to date, you have caused division, doubts about everyone’s true intentions and a tendency to spin collective action, in a way that leads to the conclusion that you are either unwilling or unable to understand and serve the goals we have set in creating the Tempe Victims Association, of which I think you haven’t even bothered to read the statute.”

“The Mother of Tempo sent extrajudicial prayers to the family that lost three children. I’m ashamed. How will you fare with Sofia and Martha in court? How will you counter them?’ among other things, Mr. Plakias responded to Ms. Karystianou with his new post on X.
