With 831 recruitments, the Fire Brigade will be strengthened for 2025, as announced by the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias.

More specifically, for 2025, the following will be recruited:

• all graduates of the Fire Academy

– 70 cadet fire fighters

– 260 trainee firefighters

• 300 firefighters-forest commanders for the further staffing of the Special Forestry Operations Units (SFU).

• 150 general duty firefighters

• 8 helicopter operators

• 15 captain navigators

• 10 doctors

• 15 engineers

• 3 employees in state aid

“Within a year we almost tripled the number of forestry units. We are continuing to strengthen the Fire Brigade with 831 recruitments of forest commanders, graduates of the Fire Academy and general duty firefighters,” said Vassilis Kikilias.

The minister also noted that the recruitments are made in the context of the new doctrine for dealing with forest fires, the modernization of the Fire Brigade and the needs arising from the implementation of the AEGIS program.
