Two people were arrested in a car by the Greek Police, while looting cables and other materials
Another sabotage of cables of the OSE railway line in the area of SKA occurred in the early hours of the morning by two people who were arrested by the Greek Police, while they were carrying out illegal actions.
In particular, according to an announcement by the OSE, today the dawn (and time 01.11) a problem occurred in the circuit (6107) in the area of the SKA. An Agency drone was immediately raised for a relevant check and, after being informed by the operator, they were located 2 people in orbit which had proceeded to sabotage.
The Police were informed and proceeded to arrestswhile the OSE is proceeding with lawsuits against those involved.
It is noted that the growing theft of railway materials, such as rails and cables, are a serious problem affecting the Greek railway infrastructure.
The circuits operating in areas such as Acharnes and ΣKA loot remote control and light signaling cables, blocking the operation of trains. The implications of these actions are significant, as the control panels lose sight of the exact position of the trains, creating delays to routes and disruption to the traveling public.
The perpetrators are not only limited to cables, but they also steal sections from the railswhich they allegedly take to illegal smelters for the sale of copper and iron.
Recently, in the area of Tavros, police officers found a car carrying over 500 kg of railway material. Interest in these circuits seems to have now shifted to electromobility, as the hard electrolytic copper used in the lines has a high value on the scrap market.
