Reports of burnt houses – The forces have been reinforced – Message from 112 to evacuate the areas of Tsichleika, Vreteika and Kryonero
Fire broke out in a wooded area at Amaliada’s hawk at noon on Friday while 112 rang again a while ago.
Shortly before 4:00 p.m., citizens in the Havari area were asked to remain alert, while an earlier message from 112 called on residents to move away from the areas of Tsichleika, Vreteika and Kryonero towards Amaliada.
According to information, the flames reached the settlements, while there are reports of burnt houses.
The ground and aerial firefighting forces operating in the area in order to bring the fire under control were further strengthened.
At the front of the fire, 195 firefighters with 4 groups of pedestrian departments and 65 vehicles are now working, while water drops are continuously carried out from the air, 8 firefighting aircraft and 9 helicopters, of which 2 have a coordinating role.
On the front of the fire is already the deputy chief of the Fire Department, lieutenant general, Nikos Roumeliotis, and the chief, lieutenant general Theodoros Vagias, is moving over.
“The front of the fire that occurred in the Geraki area is very large and unfortunately the strong winds blowing in the area make it difficult for the aerial and ground firefighting forces”says, speaking to APE-MPE, the deputy governor of Ilia, Nikos Korovesis.
As the deputy governor added, “the front of the fire is now moving towards the Khavari region and there is a danger to residential areas”.
Also, Nikos Korovesis noted that “from the first moment, the Region of Western Greece sent all the machines of the Civil Protection, to assist the firefighting forces”.
Coordination meeting under Kikilia
A coordination meeting was held under the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilia, regarding the ongoing fire in Geraki Ilia. The meeting was attended by relevant ministries, representatives of the Fire Department, security forces, the armed forces as well as all the agencies involved.
It is noted that an update was made at the meeting and for her fire which has erupted in the area of Panopoulos Ilia.
The work of the fire brigades is assisted by construction machinery and municipal water carriers.

At the same time, a new fire broke out a while ago in Nea Manolada, Ilia.
Firefighters on the ground and in the air are working to bring the fire under control, which is burning low vegetation.
In particular, 12 firefighters with five vehicles are working at the scene, while three firefighting planes and two helicopters are spraying water from the air.
