A criminal group that was committing thefts in Patras was dismantled by the Security officers, simultaneously investigating 93 cases of theft.

At the same time, the police officers arrested nine people, seven women and two men, five of whom are minors, against whom a case file was filed for founding and participating in a criminal organization and committing thefts, as a follow-up and as a profession.

In addition, the details of three more wanted persons were identified, while a case was filed against the parents of the minors for the crime of neglecting the supervision of a minor.

According to the Police, from the investigations of the Patras Police, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigation Department, it was established that the arrested persons had committed a total of 93 cases of house theft in the last four years, from which they had taken money, jewelry and other items , with a total value of approximately 280,000 euros.

Regarding the methodology of the criminal group, the defendants, according to the Police, left in the morning hours from camps where they lived and divided into groups of three or four people, moved to neighboring areas and committed thefts, mainly in single-family houses.

The defendants entered the houses, either by climbing, or through open windows, while in some cases they broke the windows or the outer door of the house.

The arrested were taken to the prosecutor of Patras First Instance, while the Patras Police officers are continuing the investigations to determine if they are involved in other cases of theft.
