Shock in Greek football. The 31-year-old Panathinaikos player George Baldock was found dead on Wednesday night in the swimming pool of his home in Glyfada.
According to information, the 31-year-old’s wife, who lives in England with their child, has been looking for him for hours since Wednesday afternoon without being able to find him. He called the owner of the house where Baldock was staying in Glyfada to go and see what had happened. The latter went to the footballer’s residence, where after an investigation he found him unconscious in the pool. He informed the Immediate Action and a Glyfada police vehicle rushed to the scene, while the EKAV was also called and confirmed his death.
The investigation into the incident was undertaken by the Southeastern Attica Security sub-directorate.
George Baldock was born in Buckingham, England on March 9, 1993 and had Greek roots on his father’s side. He took his first football steps in Milton Keynes Dons, a team where he made his debut in May 2010 in a game against Brighton. With the shirt of Milton Kane Dons, he recorded 107 appearances and two goals, while he played there until 2017. In these seven years, he also played on loan at the English Northampton, Tamworth, Oxford United and the Icelandic Vestmaneja.
In 2017 he was transferred to Sheffield United where he made 219 appearances (83 of them in the Premier League), scored 6 goals and provided 16 assists. To his credit, he has participated in the semi-final of the FA Cup in 2023 and two promotions from the Championship to the Premier League.
He was an active international with our National team.
