Preliminary investigation and Sworn Administrative Examination will be held for the circumstances and causes of the accident that caused the death of a firefighter yesterday and the injury of two more firemen, as announced by the Fire Department.

The Fire Department made an official announcement about the accident that occurred yesterday in Aspropyrgos when a Service vehicle, in which three firefighters were inside, overturned on Dimokratis Avenue, resulting in the death of the driver of the Fire Department vehicle, deputy firefighter Georgios Koutsokostas, and injury to the other two.

In detail, the announcement of the Fire Department:

“Yesterday, Friday, October 11, 2024, evening hours, the P.S. 3263 vehicle of P.Y. Elefsina staffed with three Fire Department employees, while returning to its station from an urban fire, overturned at the height of the bridge of Aspropyrgos Attica and on Dimokratis Avenue.

Two injured firemen were freed from the fire truck, while the third, the driver of the vehicle, was pulled out by firemen of P.Y. of Elefsina and of the 1st E.M.A.K., without his senses.

All three firemen were transported by E.K.A.B. ambulances. at the “Attikon” University General Hospital, where the death of the driver of the fire truck, Deputy Firefighter George Koutsokostas, aged 45, was confirmed.

For the circumstances and causes of the accident that caused the death of one and the injury of two more Firefighters, a preliminary investigation and Sworn Administrative Examination will be conducted.”
